Stay Sharp and Focused with the Mediterranean Diet

Inspired by the eating habits of Greece, Italy and Spain, the Mediterranean Diet has been incredibly popular with dieters, athletes and the health-conscious since its rise to fame in the 1970s.

The latest findings from a study conducted at the University of Edinburgh has shown that people who follow this diet, which is rich in leafy green vegetables and low in red meat products, are more likely to stay mentally sharp in later life.

This link to improved brain health and cognitive function was highlighted by a range of memory and thinking tests among older adults in their late 70s, in which those following the Mediterranean Diet scored significantly higher across the board.

More than 500 participants were involved in the study and the tests involved problem solving, memory, thinking speed and word knowledge. The findings added to the growing body of evidence that shows how a healthier diet and lifestyle is associated with improved cognitive skills in later life.

In addition to making healthy eating choices, the diet can also be improved by the addition of certain vitamins and supplements. One ingredient with scientifically-proven benefits for cognitive function is natural ASX, a carotenoid derived from microalgae that supports the antioxidant capacity of the brain.

This sustainable plant-based ingredient can be found in products such as CORE ASX, which harnesses all of the natural potency of ASX to help reduce age-related forgetfulness, multi-tasking and alertness.
